I found two problems with this product. First it made the audio on my phone sound very tinny. Second, the batteries only lasted a few weeks and after going to both Target and Walmart I've been unable to find replacement batteries which I would have thought would be readily available.
This is a basic amplifier. It takes a second to cut in but amplifies well. It works with standard corded headsets. I use it in my car as I am an old machinegunner with hearing loss. The batteries are inexpensive online or at Walmart. Best solution out there if your fone is too quiet.
Used with Plantronics M214C Headset and cordless phone.Plus: Amplifies better than expected, small size makes it easy to move around, controls and indicators easy to access and use. An inexpensive solution for the occational work from home user.Negatives: Batteries not rechargeable, voice activated shutoff is annoying and shuts off while you are talking. you don't know if the other person hears you, static when you turn up the volumn.
This product does work as advertised, and will increase the volume of a call a good bit. It runs out of batteries too quickly and the cut off problem I listed above is just too frustrating. A set of batteries lasted about a month for me.
I find on conference calls if there is no talking for a min or two it cuts out. The cost of putting new batteries in it each month is not huge, but is frustrating and not very "green". Unfortunately it shuts itself off after too long with no sound.
I also wish the batteries were AAA so I could use rechargeable batteries (it uses those little disk batteries). When someone starts talking it does come back, but there is a delay, and you miss some of what was said. I understand that it does this to save battery, I just wish I could tell it "not now".
All in all it works as advertised, but could be better.--------------------------------------UPDATEI have had this for a while now, and I have stopped using it. All in all, this was worth a try, but just does not work for me.
The amplifier definitely works well to amplify the incoming callers voice - however the the caller hears a very bad echo repeating back what they said -- have had to switch it off to hold a conversation.
